July/August 2026 Prayer Letter

Dear Praying Friends and Supporters,

It seems like the time in the ministry goes by so quickly, and before we know it, we are starting the next program of ministry. We are thankful for the ministry keeping us busy and allowing us to serve in the country God has called us to.

July began with a trip to Lake Tanganyika, as we were able to have a Pastors Refresher Course up there at the lake. It was such a blessing to be back with some of the pastors that I had first met and ministered with in 2014. It is amazing to see the growth there in their own lives and in the lives of the people in the villages there. We had about six pastors in attendance, and several deacons and various other church leaders who attended. We were able to study the book of I Timothy verse by verse and highlighted the qualifications of leaders in the church and other important details that the book covers. I also had the opportunity, thanks to your faithful support, to take a few of the men from my church along for the trip. It was a great time of fellowship for us, and a time for them to be blessed and be a blessing to those ministering in that area. Our church’s missionary is up there, and so we had the opportunity to check up on him and his ministry at the same time. In some ways, it was our church’s first mission trip, which was awesome. We will be having one more of these trainings in September, which I am excited for, and we will have my dad come with my brother-in-law to help with the teaching as we seek to cover II Timothy.

The rest of July was our normal ministry operations in Makeni, and we have been blessed to see the church slowly growing. We also spent July getting ready for our youth rally and VBS in August.

The youth rally we held at the beginning of August was a huge blessing and was well attended. We had about 98 youth in attendance and 4 churches represented. Our theme was about running our race, and we sought to encourage our youth in their Christian walk. A Zambian pastor friend of mine from the Copperbelt came down and preached for us, and we had a great time together, and the youth enjoyed his testimony and call to the ministry. Please be praying for the youth in Zambia that God will guide and strengthen them. We had a Bible quiz and sports tournaments, so it was a packed schedule but a great time together. I am looking forward to doing this again next year, Lord willing.

In between our youth rally and VBS, the nation of Zambia had national elections, and that was definitely an interesting time. We are thankful for God’s protection during that time and the protection of our people. It was definitely an eye-opening experience, and it definitely affected the ministry and our schedule. I am thankful it is over and plan on not having to experience that again.

We did make a trip to Livingstone to visit a fellow missionary who has started a church there. We had a great time of fellowship, and I had the privilege of preaching in their church down there. It is exciting to travel in Zambia and see little beacons of light shining in a nation that really doesn’t truly know Christ.

Our VBS was a great time this year. We had about 70 kids or so in attendance, which kept us very busy, but it was rewarding getting to know the children in a better way and seeing God work in their lives. Please pray for fruit from this ministry. We had several visiting parents on the last day, and I preached the gospel. Many Zambians think they are already saved, so teaching them the truth of the Gospel is so difficult, as they come with so many preconceived notions. That being said, we have seen people saved over the last few months, and others come who are interested in joining the church.

Please pray as we train leaders, and that God will bring or show us the right leader for the future of this church.
