Dear Prayer Partners and Supporters,
The ministry has been quite involved over the past two months and has kept me very busy. I am currently writing this as I am traveling back to the US for our first furlough. It was a good day at church as our last Sunday, but was so sad to leave the people in the church.
The church building is so close to finished. We will be having our fist service there on September 15, 2024. This project has taken so much of my time and energy, but it is exciting to see that we will have a place for the future. The church has still been having many visitors, but we will be more effective when the building is done, as people will see that this is not just a temporary establishment, but rather an established congregation. Please be in prayer for the church as we are gone, that people will stay faithful. Justin Sauder will be filling in for us while we are gone, so we ask that you pray for him in the ministry there.
In July, we were able to have our first wedding at the church, which was awesome. Please be in prayer for this young couple as they move forward in their lives as a new couple.
My wife traveled back to the states with the kids at the end of July so that she could spend time with her family. That allowed me to be free to finish up a couple of the ministries that I needed to wrap up before I left. I realized very quickly how much I miss not having my family with me.
In August, I was invited to preach at a wedding in another part of Zambia for another young couple who are in training for the ministry. Pray for them in this preparation phase of life, that God will protect their marriage and relationship.
I then was invited to preach a family conference at the very same place that I first went to when I visited Zambia in 2014 while on an internship in college. It is amazing how God directs your path. Fifteen years ago I had no idea where I would be or what I would be doing, and now fifteen years later we are in Zambia as missionaries. In 2014, God used that trip in my life to burden my heart for Zambia. It was quite the process of time and trials for me to finally go to Zambia as a missionary, but I don’t regret following God. I realized I just needed to move by faith. When I was invited to come and preach the conference, I was humbled to realize God would bring me back to the very same people and same area all these years later. I hope that the messages were a challenge to them, as my desire is to see strong established churches in Zambia. I want to see families coming to church, and husbands bringing their wives and children with them. Without the family unit in our churches in Zambia, we will struggle to truly reach this nation with the truth.
Please be in prayer for our family as we start this furlough. We are looking forward to seeing many of you, and those of you that we don’t see, please know that we would love to but the schedule has been difficult. My wife is expecting our fourth child in December, so some of our previous plans had to be changed. We thank you for your support and prayer, as it is what has allowed us to stay on the field. God bless you all.
